Driving licenses for vehicles that have been obtained abroad can be used in Italy:

• within 12 months for non-European driving licenses,
• 24 months for some types of European driving licenses with no expiry date or with an expiry date that fall within the regulations,
• until their expiration for other types of European driving licenses.

to use the foreign driving license, it must be in an international format or translated by the consulate or with a certified translation.

For licenses issued in countries with specific agreements, it is possible to convert the document in Italy, otherwise it is necessary to take the exams in Italy.
